Updates

  • Special room rate for festival spectators!

    By in Article on

The Courtyard by Marriott in Carolina Beach has again given us a discounted room rate at their beach-front hotel for festival spectators. The rates are available for the nights of November 4th and 5th for attendance at the Cape Fear Kite Festival the 5th and 6th.  The code for this rate is CKFS and the contact at the hotel is Alli.  Reservations must be made by October 4th to secure this rate.  The hotel is closest to the festival site and in the center of Carolina Beach in proximity to other restaurants and attractions. The direct number there is 910-458-2030.

We are again Community Partners with the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher and they will share their parking spaces and offer discounts for aquarium admission.

Can’t wait to see you there! Just hope for good wind and weather both days….

  • Cape Fear Kite Festival has new location

    By in Article on

Weather permitting, the annual Cape Fear Kite Festival will be held this weekend at a new location.

Held at Wrightsville Beach in previous years, the festival, which is in its 10th year, is moving this year to the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area. Flags of all shapes, styles and colors will be filling the skies above the beach from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Kite fliers will be launching fish and other sea creatures into the air, including a 100-foot blue whale, to go with the marine theme of the festival.

The event is free and open to the public. There will be food trucks and other vendors offering food for purchase. Free parking is available at the recreation area as well as at the nearby North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, which is the festival’s community partner this year. Festival attendees will receive $1 off general admission to the aquarium this weekend.

Visitors should also be aware that Fort Fisher Boulevard is currently being repaved in Kure Beach, so traffic delays and backups can be expected.
